“Knowing there’s a match out there – it’s just a weight off your mind as a parent,” shares Ezra’s dad, Kie.
Last November, 10-year-old Ezra’s world turned upside down when he was diagnosed with blood cancer. A stem cell transplant could be his second chance at life — and thankfully, he’s found a matching donor! 🙌
But so many others are still waiting for their lifesaving match. 💔 That’s why Ezra’s family are calling on more heroes to join the stem cell register to help save more people like their son!
Dad Kie explains: “Of course, when we received Ezra’s diagnosis of acute myeloid leukaemia, our world changed in an instant. But Ezra, he’s so laid back – he takes everything in his stride.
“The main thing he’s been missing is school, playing sports, and seeing his mates. Ezra is very academic, and he loves school. A stem cell transplant could mean Ezra could be back learning and having fun with his friends again.
“I just want to thank that person for signing up, sending back their swab kit, and following through. All I can say is thank you to his potential donor. I’ve been on the register myself for 9 years and have never been called. Many people will be like me – willing to help but not called. But it’s all about giving hope and being there if you’re needed.
“As a family, we love travelling – we set a goal to visit all countries in Europe and, so far, we have done 11, which is on hold at the moment, of course. So, once Ezra has finished treatment and we can travel again – we just want to see the world and do as much as we can together.
“For now, we’re just committed to promoting the stem cell register – you could be someone’s hero and save their life. It’s really easy to register and not arduous, but it is one of the most important things you can do."
