“I am just so scared of losing her. I’m begging people to register and help save my baby,” shares mum, Courtney.
At only 1 month old, Dolcie-Mae from Newport was devastatingly diagnosed with HLH -- a rare and life-threatening blood disorder. Her only hope for survival? A stem cell transplant.
With no matching donor, little Dolcie-Mae, now 3 months old, is relying on the stem cell register to find her potential lifesaver. Dolcie-Mae's mum, Courtney, is urging more people to register as stem cell donors to help save her little girl and others like her.
Courtney explains: “Knowing that a stem cell transplant is her only hope for survival is so frustrating and upsetting -- to know she doesn’t even have one match right now is really hard.
“I came home from hospital two weeks after having Dolcie-Mae – her big sister, Dollie-rae, loved her at first sight and would not put her down – she wanted to help with all her bottles and feeds! But she hasn’t seen her since we had to take Dolcie-Mae to Newcastle for treatment in December; we had to spend Christmas apart, and we are all really missing each other. We Facetime every day, but it’s not enough.”
Dad, Ashley, adds: “I am so scared of losing my first daughter, please help our baby girl.”
You can give hope to Dolcie-Mae, her family, and others like her.
