There was a great response from staff at Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley, where we held a donor recruitment event this week. It was inspired by Zarah Al Shaikh, a 12 year old girl who was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in May this year. This will transition into leukaemia if untreated so Zara requires a blood stem cell donation and a matching donor is being sought for her. Zara’s father Loua used to work at the hospital so the staff there wanted to show their support for him and Zara.

There was a great attendance with people from departments throughout the hospital swabbing to join the registry.
Loua was updated about the high numbers of people who registered and really appreciated that his former colleagues wanted to support his daughter.
