A big thank you to Henry Schein Ireland and BioHorizons for going the distance to help raise awareness and vital funds for DKMS! A team of cyclists from both companies were due to take part in the 600km cycle challenge, covering the length of Ireland, from Mizen Head to Malin Head. However, due to a number of injuries and personal reasons the original 10 cyclists were reduced to just Patrick Bolger, Managing Director of Henry Schein Ireland.

Undeterred Patrick started the challenge on Thursday 22 June, accompanied by Ken O’Brien, General Manager UK & Ireland at BioHorizons, in a support vehicle. After 22-hours of cycling in two stages of 10 and 12 hours each, at an average pace of 26 km/hour, Patrick successfully completed the course.
Ken originally set up the cycle challenge in 2016 after a staff member lost their father to mantle cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, one of the rarest forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. The challenge raised over £3,300 that year. So far, this year, the team has raised nearly £2,000, which will help support the registration of new potential blood stem cell donors.
It’s not too late to support the team’s challenge and help them reach their fundraising target - please donate online or text DKMS47 and the amount (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070.
