Cell-ebrating Pride 2024

DKMS UK debuts at Pride events to celebrate diversity and enhance community outreach.

June was an important milestone for DKMS UK as we participated in our first-ever Pride events! We were excited to experience both Pride in London 2024 and Pride Edinburgh 2024, celebrating diversity and love with thousands of people.

Raising awareness and embracing inclusivity

The energy at both Pride events was amazing. The colourful parades, lively music, and sense of community made both events truly special. We were happy to see the excitement of everyone who visited our booth, with many people sharing their own stories and inquiring about the questions they were curious about.

Our goal was to educate and inform the LGBTQ+ community about the importance of stem cell donation. We wanted to encourage more people to join the register by answering common questions and busting myths about who can donate stem cells. It was great to see so many people interested in learning more about the impact of stem cell donation and supporting our cause.

Lauren from DKMS shared: “We had the best time raising awareness about the DKMS stem cell register—showing that your sexuality does NOT affect your eligibility to be a stem cell donor! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us!”.

Looking forward

Our time at Pride in London and Pride Edinburgh was simply wonderful. We’re so grateful for the community’s support and interest. Moving forward, we can’t wait to keep participating in future events, promoting inclusivity, and breaking down barriers to stem cell donation.

Keep an eye on our events page to learn more about our upcoming events, and thanks for being such an awesome part of our community! Your support helps us continue our mission to give everyone living with blood cancer and blood disorders a second chance at life. Whether you’re a registered donor, a supporter, or just learning about us, you’re a crucial part of our journey.
